Artist Story
Raised in rural Texas, artist Van Berkemeyer, aka Berkmade, grew up idolizing classic western icons like Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. From working ranch fences in Oklahoma to designing for some of the biggest names in western culture, the spirit of the West has remained central to both his life and creative work.
Inspired by a lifetime shaped by cowboy culture, open landscapes, and untamed individuality, Van created the Wild West Bandana as a tribute to the enduring legacy of the American West. While the landscape may evolve with time, progress, and modern industry, the spirit of the West continues to live on through the people who carry its traditions forward.
Today, Van works from Nashville, Tennessee creating artwork for artists, festivals, rodeos, and heritage brands including Chris Stapleton, Zac Brown Band, Lucchese, Carhartt, and more. His work blends western storytelling, vintage design influences, and authentic lived experience into a style that feels timeless yet distinctly modern.
